Dahlia Caproz Josephine

Dahlia ‘Caproz Josephine’ is all about texture first, color second. This is a true fimbriata dahlia, which means the petals are finely split at the tips, almost like they’ve been lightly frayed. That detail changes the whole look of the flower. Instead of a smooth, full bloom, you get something softer, more feathery, with a sense of movement even when it’s completely still. The color starts with a creamy white to soft butter base, then picks up pink edging and fine streaking toward the tips. The pink isn’t heavy or solid. It sits lightly on the edges, sometimes more pronounced, sometimes barely there. Each bloom ends up a little different, which keeps the plant from ever looking uniform. For cutting, this is a very useful variety. The fringed petals add detail to arrangements without needing a lot of extra filler. It brings a lighter feel compared to round, dense blooms and mixes easily with roses, ranunculus, and other dahlias.  
Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and give plants enough room to develop. Staking early is recommended, especially in open or windy locations. In colder parts of the United States, lift tubers after the first frost and store them dry over winter.
